Helen returns to York Early Music Christmas Festival to indulge in love, life and merriment through the music of Henry Purcell and John Blow.
This emotive programme of songs, dialogues and trios by Purcell and Blow celebrates the genius of these two extraordinary English composers. Purcell combines his innate sense of the natural rhythms of speech with great melodic flair and harmonic invention, and his teacher, John Blow, is equally renown. Their songs for the theatre, streets, taverns and courts are arguably the most successful in the English language.
